Designing For Adoption

An OdinArc perspective on modern software engineering and intelligent platforms.

Adoption is a design problem long before it's a training problem. If your users need a two-day workshop to use the platform, the platform has already lost.

Software people actually enjoy using shares a few traits. It respects the user's existing mental model of their job. It surfaces the next likely action instead of hiding it three menus deep. It fails gracefully, with error messages written by someone who has met a human. And it feels fast, because perceived performance is a feature, not a nice-to-have.

We design enterprise software the way consumer teams design their best products — with the same attention to typography, motion, empty states and micro-copy. The users notice. Adoption follows.
